So where do I start???
I've left everything that is familiar and have traveled to a land far away. The land that I speak of is Japan. I am a military wife of 6+ years and my husband and I have PCS'd for the first time. At first I though 'WOW Japan, what an experience' and now I think perhaps a vacation would have been nice enough. Don't get me wrong Japan is beautiful and so full of history and culture, but I miss home. Ah Sunny San Diego, there's nothing like it. I don't just miss the beaches, but I miss every day life. I miss going to Target or Wal-Mart to pick up a few things, I miss grabbing a smoothie after an early morning jog at Mission Bay, I miss driving on the right hand side of the road... all of these things I took for granted. Can you believe I even miss the daily grind of going to work? Yes; I miss attending meetings, counseling employees and running payroll. I thought I would like being an ideal house wife, but I was wrong.
Living here so far away from the norm on this small military base has been difficult for me. I feel worth less... yes I contribute to the household but none the less this is how I feel. It bothers me that I don't have a reason to wake up in the morning and it bothers me that I sleep in until 10 or 11 in the morning. This is my life and I have to do something to change it. I've taken steps this afternoon to find meaning on this god forsaken base; I hope someone calls me back on my volunteer applications. Oh how I long to have a purpose again.
Today was a blue, blue day for me. Here's to a better tomorrow!
